USDCAD 4H BRACE Setup – Buyers Are Defending The ORB Zone – May 13, 2026

USDCAD Is Beginning To Respect Structure Again

USDCAD is starting to shape into a very interesting 4H BRACE setup, and what stands out most right now is how price continues respecting the ORB structure from above.

This is important.

Because unlike the GBPUSD setup where the first breakout completely failed, USDCAD is currently showing signs that buyers may actually be defending the breakout zone properly.

And this is exactly why traders cannot treat every breakout the same.

Some fail.
Some hold.
The retest tells the story.

Right now, USDCAD is attempting to build bullish continuation from the ORB zone while staying supported by the 8 EMA and 20 EMA.

That combination matters.

Because when structure and momentum begin aligning together, continuation setups become much cleaner.

What Is BRACE?

BRACE stands for:

Break. Retest. And Confirm Entry.

This is the foundation of my trading process.

The market breaks structure.
Price retests the breakout area.
The market confirms direction.
Then the trade is executed.

The breakout itself is never enough.

I need to see whether price actually respects the breakout zone after the retest.

That single detail filters out many bad trades.

Most traders rush into breakouts emotionally.

BRACE forces patience.

And patience is what keeps traders from becoming exit liquidity.

How I Use The 4H ORB

My ORB (Opening Range Break) framework comes from the first 4H candle.

That zone becomes the primary structure I monitor throughout the week.

Once price breaks beyond that range, I immediately begin looking for BRACE conditions.

The beauty of this system is the simplicity.

No clutter.
No overcomplicated analysis.
No pretending we need forty indicators to understand whether buyers or sellers are defending a zone.

Price structure tells the story if traders are patient enough to read it.

USDCAD 4H Chart Breakdown

USDCAD 4H Chart: Buyers continue defending the ORB structure as price respects both the 8 EMA and 20 EMA, creating potential bullish BRACE continuation conditions.

This setup is still developing, but the structure is becoming cleaner.

Stage One – Bullish Break Above The ORB

Price successfully broke above the ORB structure and continued expanding upward.

That breakout immediately put the pair on bullish watch.

But again — the breakout alone was not the trade.

The retest still needed to happen.

Stage Two – Buyers Defend The Retest

After the breakout, price pulled back into the ORB zone.

This is where weak breakouts usually fail.

But so far, USDCAD is holding structure.

Instead of collapsing back beneath the ORB, buyers stepped back in and defended the zone.

That matters.

Because successful retests often become the foundation for continuation moves higher.

The fact that price is also interacting with the 8 EMA and 20 EMA adds another layer of bullish support.

Stage Three – Waiting For Confirmation

At this point, confirmation is still the key.

I want to continue seeing:

  • bullish candle closes from support
  • respect of the ORB zone
  • support from the moving averages
  • higher lows continuing to form

If buyers continue defending this structure, USDCAD could continue pushing higher from here.

Why The Retest Matters More Than The Breakout

A breakout candle can fool traders very quickly.

The retest exposes the truth.

That is why I focus so heavily on how price behaves after returning to the breakout zone.

If price breaks structure and immediately collapses back through it, the breakout likely failed.

But if price retests the structure and buyers defend it properly, continuation becomes much more likely.

That is what USDCAD is currently attempting to do.

The retest is the interview.
The confirmation candle is the hiring decision. 😂

When BRACE Transitions Into RACE

One thing traders must understand is that the market will not always return back into the ORB zone after the original setup.

Sometimes price confirms and simply keeps running.

That is why the original BRACE entry matters so much.

But if price continues higher and never revisits the ORB, I then shift into what I call a RACE continuation setup.

At that point, I begin looking for:

  • retests of the 8 EMA
  • or retests of the 20 EMA

Then I wait for confirmation again before entering continuation trades.

So instead of:
Break. Retest. And Confirm Entry

I now shift into:
Retest. And Confirm Entry

That becomes:
RACE

This allows traders to participate in continuation momentum without emotionally chasing extended candles.

Why I Prefer Executing From The 4H Chart

The 4H timeframe helps reduce emotional decision-making.

Lower timeframes create more noise and more impulsive trading.

The 4H gives me:

  • cleaner structure
  • stronger confirmations
  • less stress
  • fewer unnecessary trades
  • more patience

That matters.

Most traders do not need more setups.

They need better discipline.

My Plan For USDCAD This Week

USDCAD is currently attempting to build bullish continuation above the ORB structure.

At this point, I want to continue seeing buyers defend this area properly.

Here’s exactly what I need to see next:

  1. Price remains above the ORB zone
  2. Buyers continue defending pullbacks
  3. Bullish confirmation candles continue printing
  4. The 8 EMA and 20 EMA continue acting as support
  5. Higher lows continue forming on the 4H

If price continues respecting the ORB and EMA structure, I remain bullish on USDCAD.
